Navigation Tips

  • All modern browsers should not have any problems viewing this site, however because "pop-up" ads have become so prevalent on the network, many employ pop-up blocking techniques. Because this page opens new windows similar to the method advertisers open pop-up windows, you may need to temporarily disable your pop-up blocker if you have one. There is NO advertising on this site.

  • Javascripts are employed frequently on this site. If your browser is incapable of handling Javascripts, you will not be able to see all portions of this website. If this is the case, you will need to upgrade to a more modern browser. This site has been fully tested with Internet Explorer version 6, Mozilla 1 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.2.1) Gecko/20021130), Netscape 7, and the new Firefox. It should be compatible with both Internet Explorer and Netscape down to versions 4, though this has not been verified.

  • Items that were expressed as footnotes in the actual book are viewed like this. If you cannot see a small window appear to the left or center of the screen as you move the cursor over the text with your mouse, your browser may be Java-challenged, and you will need to upgrade your browser to see them.

  • Click on me!
Many of the photos and the stories that go along with them are accessed by clicking on the the thumbnails of the photos, such as you see to the right. By clicking on the thumbnail, your browser will open a completely new window over the existing window. When you are through with the window, simply click "Close Window" at the bottom of the new page to continue reading the main page. Some pop-up blockers may refuse to allow the creation of this new window; you must temporarily disable it to to succesfully see the new window and the information therein. If you are still unable to see the new window, your browswer may be Java-challenged and you will need to upgrade your browser.

  • The text size is not fixed and will appear at your browsers default size, or even in some cases, the size of the last site you visited. All modern browsers allow easy adjustment of the text size. On Internet explorer, click on "View" at the top of the browser, click on "Text Size", and then choose the size you want. Netscape & Mozilla users have it even easier; simply hold down the "Ctl" key and press the plus or minus ('+' or '-') key at the same time.

  • Every attempt has been made to optimize this website for users on slow connections (I.E. dial-up service), however it is image intensive and most of the pages will take at least a few moments to load. Please be patient; the wait is well worth it.

  • If you have any problems, please contact me and let me know.
